Inter-American Accreditation Cooperation, A.C.
IAAC plays an active role in the Quality Infrastructure Council of the Americas (QICA), a forum that brings together the regional organizations for standardization, metrology, and accreditation. Within this framework, IAAC’s role is to represent and strengthen accreditation as a fundamental pillar of quality infrastructure. Its participation supports institutional coordination, technical coherence, and regional positioning in international forums, thereby promoting trust in evaluation results and the sustainable development of the region.
IAAC maintains a strategic cooperation with the Pan American Standards Commission (COPANT), aimed at strengthening the quality infrastructure in the American continent and the Caribbean. This relationship promotes coherence between standardization and accreditation, ensuring that technical standards developed are effectively supported by accredited conformity assessment schemes. In this way, it facilitates regulatory convergence, reduces duplication of efforts, and reinforces confidence in evaluation results, regional trade, and innovation.
IAAC maintains close cooperation with the Inter-American Metrology System (SIM), aimed at strengthening the quality infrastructure in the American continent and the Caribbean. This collaboration highlights the credibility of measurements, by fostering synergies between national metrology institutes and accreditation bodies. In this way, it ensures international traceability, strengthens confidence in evaluation results, and drives the technical harmonization that supports trade, innovation, and regional competitiveness.
